WHAT IS PLYWOOD ?

Plywood is a composite of wood veneer, glue and water. Thin sheets of wood veneer are glued together to make plywood with flexible, inexpensive, workable and re-usable.
Softwood ply is used in construction such as walls, roofs and floors.
Hardwood ply is used in furniture such as floors, kitchen units and some furniture.
Plywood is divided into 3 main kinds
Packing plywood
Furniture plywood
Construction plywood
The production process of plywood:
A log is softened with steam and then mounted on a lathe
A thin layer of wood is peeled off in a continuous veneer sheet.
Several layers of veneer are glued together alternating between the different layers.
The stack is heated and pressed to form a rigid panel.
Glue:
According to the usage purpose, the plywood is used indoors or outdoors that manufacturers use MR or WBP glue.
Plywood for indoor uses the less expensive urea-formaldehydeMR glue, which has limited water resistance
Outdoor and marine-grade plywood are designed to withstand rot, and use a water resistant phenol-formaldehyde glue to prevent delamination and to retain strength in high moisture.
